Shipping

We ship live, dormant bare root plants across the United States. Below is everything you need to know about how, when, and where we ship.

Shipping rates

Orders of $75 or more: Free shipping
Orders under $75: $15 flat rate
Alaska & Hawaii: Calculated at checkout (USPS)

Carriers

We ship most orders via UPS 2-day or 3-day service. We use FedEx as a backup when UPS rates or routing make it the better choice. We avoid USPS for the contiguous 48 states because of slower transit times and reliability issues that can affect plant health.

Orders to Alaska and Hawaii are shipped via USPS. UPS rates to those states are prohibitively expensive, so USPS Priority Mail is the practical option.

Shipping schedule

We ship Monday through Friday during the cooler months. As spring temperatures rise, we may shift to Monday through Wednesday shipping only. The reason is simple: a plant stuck in a hot mail truck over the weekend can bake before it ever reaches you. If you have a specific concern about timing for your zone, please reach out before ordering and we'll work with you on the best ship date.

When your order ships

Most orders ship within 1 to 5 business days of being placed, depending on weather and the time of year. During peak spring season, ship times can run a little longer due to volume. You'll receive tracking information by email as soon as your order is on its way.

Receiving your plants

Open the package right away when it arrives. Bare root plants are dormant but still alive, and they need to be either planted or "heeled in" within a day or two. If you can't plant immediately, keep the roots damp and store the plants in a cool, dark place like a garage or basement.

Damage on arrival

If your plants arrive damaged or in poor condition, contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and your order number. Our Arrive-Alive guarantee covers free replacement. See Returns & Guarantee for details.

Shipping address changes

Once an order ships, we cannot reroute it. If you need to change your shipping address, contact us at support@fruitbushes.com before your order ships and we'll update it.
