FruitBushes is a small family nursery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, growing bare root berry plants for backyard gardeners, hobby orchardists, and small commercial growers across the United States.
What we grow
We specialize in bare root raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, haskap berries, cranberries, gooseberries, and a handful of more unusual fruits like wineberries and dewberries. Most of our catalog is varieties that perform well across a wide range of zones, with an emphasis on disease resistance, productive yields, and fruit quality. If we wouldn't plant it on our own land, we don't sell it.
Why bare root
Bare root plants ship cheaper, establish faster, and give the grower a healthier root system to work with than potted plants. There's a reason commercial growers have planted bare root for over a hundred years. We pass those advantages along to you. The plants you receive from us are the same kind of stock professional fruit farms use, just packaged for someone planting one or two backyard rows instead of ten acres.
How we ship
Plants are dug in late fall after they've gone fully dormant, packed with damp paper around the roots, and shipped via UPS 2-day or 3-day service. We never use USPS for the lower 48, because we've seen too many plants damaged by slow transit and inconsistent handling. The result is plants that arrive healthy and ready to grow.
Standing behind our plants
Every order is covered by our Arrive-Alive guarantee plus a 90-day warranty. If something goes wrong, we replace the plant. We're a small operation and our reputation matters more to us than any single sale.
