Nova Raspberry

Nova Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) is a cold-hardy red raspberry variety known for reliable yields, strong vigor, and good disease resistance. It grows as an upright to slightly arching bramble that forms a productive patch over time by sending up new canes from the crown and roots.
Nova is primarily a summer-bearing raspberry. It fruits on second-year canes (floricanes) with harvest typically in early to mid-summer, depending on your climate. Berries are medium to large, bright red, and generally sweet with classic raspberry flavor. Fruit holds up well for fresh eating, freezing, jams, and baking.
This variety performs best in USDA zones 3-8. It prefers full sun for highest yields and best flavor, but it can still produce with a little light shade. Like most raspberries, Nova does best in well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Avoid areas where water sits after rain, since soggy soil can lead to root problems. A simple trellis or support wire can help keep canes upright, improve airflow, and make picking easier.
Nova is self-fertile, so you only need one planting to get fruit. For stronger harvests, plant multiple canes and give them room to spread. Annual pruning is key: remove spent fruiting canes after harvest and thin new canes to prevent overcrowding. With basic care, Nova is a dependable choice for growers who want a hardy, productive red raspberry with solid flavor and straightforward maintenance.

How we ship
Most orders go out via UPS with a 2-3 day transit time to most of the continental U.S. Plants are shipped dormant in late winter / early spring, packed wet to protect the root systems, and bundled by variety so they're ready to plant on arrival.
Hawaii & Alaska orders
For HI and AK addresses we ship via USPS. The other major carriers either don't service these areas for live plants or charge prohibitive rates that would more than double the cost of your order. USPS gives us a reliable, affordable path to get plants to you in good condition.
Want UPS or FedEx anyway?
If you're in HI or AK and want to use UPS or FedEx and cover the upgraded shipping cost, reach out to us immediately after placing your order with your order number. We'll send you the available options and a quote, and you can pick what works for you.
